Ashwin Krishnamoorthy, Director of V4 Garments, is one such entrepreneur. While involved with his family business of brick making and the running of a school, he also finds the time to run his software company and garment manufacturing unit, V4 Garments. At a time when he felt a need to further diversify his business portfolio, he decided to take the plunge into the garments sector sensing an opportunity there. With his commitment to never compromise on quality and to always deliver on time, he has developed a competitive model and is looking forward to opening his second unit.

The company harbours a noble dream of growing and providing even more employment to people in and around Coimbatore. Ashwin hopes to make a social impact by providing more employment opportunities & skills development in the region. He believes in pursuing a passion until it is achieved. In conversation with GlobalLinker (GL) Ashwin Krishnamoorthy (AK) shares the journey of his company and his vision for the future.

GL: Tell us about your business.

AK: V4 Garments is a garments manufacturing and export house. V4 Garments is situated 10 Kms from the centre of Coimbatore, India. We specialise in manufacturing high quality men’s, women’s and kids’ wear in the woven fabric category, including denim.

V4 Garments has an impressive product range in the woven garments sector. We are capable of manufacturing quality garments over a wide range of style, size and fabrics. Though we have produced a wider range in the past, we are now focused on items such as jackets, pants, shorts, shirts, ski-wear, jeans etc for men, women & children.

Our business was an unexplored venture for us at the beginning as we were not from this industry. The main reason we ventured into the garments sector was to diversify our business. We are now well-versed with its smooth functioning and are enjoying the process immensely.

Our production unit is situated in Coimbatore, equipped with the latest machinery maintained by well trained technical personnel. We use accredited testing machinery and experts for fabric package testing and garment testing. Moreover, we use directed lab results to match requirements.

Our main idea is to work on all kinds of woven garments including denim. We segregate ourselves into myriad domains. Our multi-skilled team allows us to produce virtually any sewn product. We also provide CMT (cut, make, and trim) services.

GL: What are the challenges you have faced in establishing your business?

AK: The main challenge was finding work and executing orders in the beginning. Fetching orders wasn't a major hurdle for us rather executing them with quality and on time delivery was a challenge.

GL: What is the USP of your business?

AK: Our main USP is satisfying client requirements without compromising on quality and ensuring on time delivery which is the most crucial factor in our business. We perform in-line checks during the output process to ensure optimum quality. We believe client interactions are key to our success - we follow up with them regularly, keeping them updated about production changes and responding to queries promptly.

GL: What are some of the milestones of your business?

AK: Our greatest milestone is that we work with a very good clientele and are opening our second unit shortly. We are looking forward to many more milestones being achieved in our business journey.

GL: What role do you feel GlobalLinker plays in connecting and assisting SMEs?

GL: What is your big business dream?

AK: Our big business dream is to provide employment in and around Coimbatore and help satisfy all our vendors with their requirements by expanding our setup.

GL: What is your message to aspiring entrepreneurs?

AK: My message is that if you have an idea, start working on it immediately before someone else starts working on it. Follow your passions and work towards achieving your ambitions.
