In most countries, SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) employ 60-70% of the workforce. However, when it comes to design and branding, these enterprises lack the most.

Despite this, the notion is slowly changing, and SME design innovations are strengthening the business strategy and boosting return on investment (ROI).

Why would your SME need a design revamp?

Brands must change and become more relevant as times change. It becomes all the more important with SMEs competing for the audience's attention.

Here are some major signs that your SME brand needs a design revamp:

1. You realise the importance of differentiation

When you started your small business, you might have followed the bare minimum practice to get your MVP (minimum viable product) running. Eventually, these workarounds will not work anymore, and you will realise competitors' designs are far better. When that happens, you should consider an overall design overhaul and show your consumers some value in return for their loyalty.

2. It's time to update your brand identity

Have you heard this from your customers, stakeholders, or colleagues? If yes, then no doubt, you need to update your brand design. There is no stressing this enough. Your brand's design would depend on numerous factors, such as industry trends, tech trends, design trends, etc. However, it is not easy to keep your design up with all kinds of trends. And, you should rather invest in change than get left behind.

3. Your organisation's mission and vision have changed

A brand that ventures into a new market must change the way it looks and the way it presents itself, otherwise, your market will be confused, and you will not get any new users as well.

4. Mergers and acquisitions

When a company merges with another or is acquired, at least a partial rebranding is necessary. In addition to time, the new brand requires visual cues. The participating companies can decide together whether to retain the old brand identity or create something new.

Some more reasons your SME may need a design revamp:

  • Your site isn't mobile-friendly, slow, or is unresponsive.
  • You want to incorporate a design trend or best practice.
  • You updated your marketing and product strategy.

Well, design revamp brings a lot of challenges including resource management for any corporate. No matter with limited resources, it is extra challenging for any SME to take up a design project. However, with the right UX UI Design partner, it can be easy.
