In our previous article we elaborated six reasons why you need a strong digital profile to grow your business. With a larger chunk of population shifting to social media, it won’t be long before digital profiles become the leading method for business partnerships. In light of this, it is important to ask yourself three questions:
Now that you understand how a digital profile can do wonders for your business, following are some interesting hacks to improve your digital profile in an hour! Don’t believe us? Read on.
1. Your display name
Let’s begin with the most basic of all, your name.
What’s in a name, you might say. This might be true for your Twitter account where people mostly use pseudonyms but in case of your business profile, your display name should be your own name or any other name by which you are more popularly known.
2. User name and URL
Your user name is mostly different from that of your display name. The URL of your profile uses the user name and hence you can’t change it.
You might want to use your display name or your business name as your user name. In that case, make sure that it remains consistent throughout all your digital profiles as it helps increase the brand recognition.
3. Profile picture
The third and the most important factor is your profile or display picture. You must have heard of the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words”. This brings us to an important question. Should you use your picture or the company logo?
It really depends on your goals. If you are a small or medium sized company, you might want to include a headshot of your image with the company logo but if you don’t want people to identify your business by your face, then you can go with the company logo.
Each medium states the optimal image sizes. Go by the given size and use a high resolution image for all your digital profiles. People viewing your profile should be able to see and read your image and company logo respectively. Your profile picture, should also be consistent throughout platforms.
Tags are a great way to generate more viewers to your digital media profiles. It can also help you be more discoverable if your clients or partners tag you in their posts. But if you are tagging inappropriate posts and pictures or are getting tagged in them, it might look quite amateurish. You can follow this simple checklist for the same:
5. Use the right keywords
The point of having a strong digital profile is to be discovered by your peers and potential clients and customers. And for that to happen, Google has to rank you. The easiest and the most effective way is by using the right keywords. Here is how you can do that:
6. Fill in every field
A strong digital profile has all necessary fields filled in completely. This also shows how professional you are. Use succinct sentences explaining who you are, what your business is all about and what products and services you offer.
7. Build your social trust
While a complete profile and valid proof of your business does that already, you can build it further by asking clients and family members to review, recommend and endorse your business.
Your digital profile is the best means to showcase your work. Utilise it wisely. You can implement a great landing page or create cool videos that people can relate to.
